Jean Gilkyson in on the run with her young daughter Griff from her abusive boyfriend and decides to seek refuge at her father-in-law Einar's, ranch. The problem is, Einar is still in shock from his only son's death a decade ago and since then, they haven't been close - as he blames her for his death. Einar's solitude life with his only friend Mitch is then turned upside down after Jean's arrival.
